GUWAHATI: Academy of Royals Cricket (ARC) delivered a stunning performance to defeat defending champions We R North East by five wickets and advanced to the semifinals of the TOPCEM-ASJA Inter-School and Coaching Centre Cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, We R North East managed to post 151 runs before being bowled out in 38.3 overs. Bardan Banik (33), Arjun Rajvanshi (27), and Tanveer Islam (25) made notable contributions. However, ARC’s Jayprakash Das was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets for 28 runs to restrict the defending champions close to 150.
In response, ARC chased down the target comfortably in just 27.3 overs with five wickets in hand. Harsh Vardhan was the star of the chase, scoring a brilliant 63 off 47 balls, including eight boundaries and a six. Captain Bhairab Kakati provided valuable support with a steady 28. Swarnav SG Das, the captain of We R North East, led his team’s bowling effort with figures of 2 for 36, but it wasn’t enough to stop ARC’s dominant performance.
