GUWAHATI: Last year’s runners-up South Point School secured a spot in the semifinals of the TOPCEM-ASJA U-16 Inter-School and Coaching Centre Cricket Tournament, defeating Gurdon Cricket Coaching Centre, Nalbari, by two wickets at Nehru Stadium today.
Batting first after winning the toss, Gurdon Cricket Coaching Centre posted a competitive total of 184/7 in their allotted 40 overs. Bhargav Talukdar played a fine knock, remaining unbeaten on 55 off 56 balls, which included four boundaries and two sixes. Laki Das (38) and Gokul Das (27 no) also contributed valuable runs. For South Point School, Garv Singhvi delivered an impressive bowling performance, claiming 4/43.
In reply, South Point School chased down the target in 37.5 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Captain Aman Yadav (48) and Noman Sarma (42) led the charge with crucial knocks. Debashish Talukdar and Gokul Das picked up two wickets each for Gurdon. Garv Singhvi of South Point School was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance. He also contributed valuable 16 runs from 11 balls on the board.
