GUWAHATI: ASEBSC made a winning start in the 70th Bordoloi Trophy Football Championship, defeating Sonapur Sports Association 2-0 in the Kamrup Metro leg at the SAI Sports Complex here today. Both goals came in the first half, scored by Akash Basumatary and Samiron Goyari. ASEBSC looked dominant throughout the match, controlling possession and creating multiple scoring opportunities. The defense of Sonapur Sports Association appeared vulnerable on several occasions.

The first real attempt on goal came in the 11th minute when Samiron Goyari delivered a precise pass from the left flank to Chandan Barman, who skillfully directed the ball towards the net, overpowering the opposition’s defense. However, Sonapur’s goalkeeper, Richard Mark Keleng, made a brilliant diving save to deny them.

ASEBSC continued their attacking play and finally broke the deadlock in the 44th minute when Akash Basumatary found the net from a well-placed corner kick. Just a minute later, Samiron Goyari doubled the lead, capitalizing on a swift counterattack.

Despite maintaining pressure in the second half, ASEBSC was unable to add to their tally.
