Assam: Ashofi Football Academy Secures Final Spot in Independence Day Cup

NAGAON: Ashofi Football Academy from Manipur  defeated Global Football Club from Kokrajhar 4-3 in tiebreaker to reach the final of the 76th Independence Day Cup Football Tournament, organized by the Nagaon Sports Association, here on Saturday.

The match ended 0-0 in regular time, and both teams scored 3 goals each in the tiebreaker. However, Ashofi’s Malthan Ramra’s shot proved decisive in the sudden death, allowing Manipur finally to enter into the final.

Before the match, Assistant Commissioner, Nagaon -  Bhaskar Choudhury and former office bearer of Nagaon Sports Association -  Giyasuddin Ahmed were introduced to the players of both teams by Tapan Kumar Das, general secretary of Nagaon Sports Association here.

The final match will be held tomorrow at 1-30 pm between Ashofi Football Academy, Manipur and Oil India Football Club.
