GUWAHATI: Assam suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat at the hands of Goa in the Swami Vivekananda U-20 Men’s National Football Championship at Narainpur on Sunday.

Goa took the lead in the 22nd minute through Sereno Noronha, but Assam responded swiftly, with Songja Teron netting the equalizer just four minutes later. The deadlock was broken again early in the second half when Preston Castano scored what proved to be the winning goal for Goa in the 52nd minute. Despite a spirited effort from the Assam side, they couldn't find a way back into the game.
