GUWAHATI: The Assam women’s team advanced to the semi-finals of the Beach Handball competition at the 38th National Games at Rishikesh on Wednesday. Assam secured their spot with a dominant 2-0 victory over Maharashtra, marking their second win in the tournament.

The team played three matches in the group stage, beginning with a 2-0 loss to Haryana. However, they bounced back with a crucial win against Uttarakhand before sealing their semi-final berth with today’s victory.

Meanwhile, Assam swimmers fell short of a podium finish in the swimming events held in Haldwani. Despite six swimmers, including Astha Choudhury, Jhanabi Kashyap, and Bikram Changmai, making it to the finals in their respective categories, none managed to secure a medal.
