GUWAHATI: Fifth seed Atharv Anand of Bihar caused a major upset at the AATA-AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament, defeating top seed Chandogya T Pathak of Assam in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 to book a spot in the boys’ U-16 singles final. The match was held at the AATA complex in Guwahati on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in the boys’ U-14 singles, it will be an all-Assam final as Nibras K Hussain and Chandogya T Pathak set up a title clash. In the girls’ categories, Arisha M Choudhury of Assam stands on the verge of a remarkable double crown. She has reached both the U-14 and U-16 singles finals. In the U-14 final, she will face compatriot Sanskriti S Borah, while in the U-16 final, she will take on Arnavi Debnath—also from Assam.

Boys Singles U-14 Semi final: Chandogya T Patha beat Enrich Patar 6-4, 6-3. Nibras K. Hussain beat 3rd seed Atharv Anand 6-3, 6-2. Girls singles U-16 semi finals: Arisha M. Choudhury beat Soni Prajapati 6-0, 6-1. Arnavi Debnath beat Kristi Haloi 6-0, 6-1. Girls Singles U-14 Semi finals: Sanskriti S Borah beat 3rd seed Mrigakshee Changmai 6-1, 6-2, Arisha M Choudhury beat 8th seed Phaagun Jyoti 6-1, 6-2.
