GUWAHATI: Bud Cricket Club edged past Navajyoti Club in a last-over thriller, while Guwahati Giants cruised to a comfortable win over City Cricket Club in the GTC Men’s Spring T20 Cup held at the Judges Field here today. .
In the first match of the day, Bud Cricket Club chased down a modest target of 140 with just four balls to spare, securing a narrow two-wicket win over Navajyoti Club.
Batting first, Navajyoti posted 139 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to useful contributions from Nihar Deka (44), Kupdeep Gogoi (29), and Subham Mandal (25). Bud’s Pradip Sarkar kept things tight with the ball, returning figures of 2 for 30.
In reply, Bud Cricket Club were made to work hard for their runs. Swarupar Purkayastha top-scored with a fluent 41 of 27 balls, and Abhilash Gogoi chipped in with 30. Although Dharani Dhar Rabha bowled well and bagged 4 for 22, Bud held their nerve and crossed the finish line in the 20th over.
In the second fixture, Guwahati Giants produced a clinical performance to dismantle City Cricket Club by eight wickets. City Cricket Club struggled from the outset and were bowled out for just 95, with only Samik Das (26) offering some resistance. The Giants’ bowlers were on target throughout, with Reshabh Deka (3 for 13) and Rajat Khan (3 for 19) leading the charge. Shekharjyoti Barman chipped in with 2 for 14. Guwahati Giants made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 11.2 overs. Ronit Akhtar played a blistering knock of 45, while Masir Ullah added a quickfire 29 to seal the emphatic win.
