Guwahati: Guwahati City Football Club (GCFC) has launched elite residential football academy with integrated academic education, located at Kaziranga English Academy campus, Gorchuk. The facility offers modern football training alongside education, allowing aspiring young footballers to pursue their passion without compromising academics.
Announced the news at a press conference at the Assam Olympic Association hall, GCFC Director Siddhartha Sankar Deka shared that this project is a long-cherished dream, built on eight years of grassroots and youth development. Co-director Kaustab Chakraborty added that the academy will be staffed by AFC/AIFF licensed coaches and a professional support team. Admissions will be through open applications and trials.
Another director Darick Ranjan Deka highlighted GCFC’s prior success with initiatives like the Greater Guwahati Baby League and five non-residential academies, stressing the need for a combined schooling and sports setup for outstation players. Two additional training centres are also in the pipeline.
Kaziranga English Academy will provide access to its top-class facilities, including a football pitch, AC hostels, swimming pool, gym, and modern classrooms. A trial and campus visit for interested students and parents will be held in May. Admission is open to children born between 2008 and 2015.
