GUWAHATI: OILFC clinched full points with a second-half goal against Gauhati Town Club (GTC) in the Guwahati Premier League Football at the Judges Field today. Milan Basumatary converted a spot kick in the 68th minute to seal the victory.

The fiercely contested match saw several disciplinary actions that included two red cards and three yellow cards, with even GTC assistant coach Amulya Das receiving a booking.

Both teams were reduced to ten men in the first half, with red cards shown to Joydeep Gogoi (OILFC) and Olen Singh (GTC) for unsporting behavior. In the second half, Manash Pratim (OILFC) and Tamba Singh (GTC) were also cautioned with yellow cards.

Despite a goalless first half, GTC dominated much of the second half and mounted multiple attacks. However, OILFC capitalized on a counterattack that led to a penalty, which Milan Basumatary—already notable for a hat-trick in an earlier match—converted decisively.

Meanwhile in the day’s other game, Pride East Mavericks and Red Bee Inc shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Jitu Ahmed put Mavericks ahead in the 9th minute, but T. Meitei equalized for Red Bee in the 31st minute. Mavericks squandered a golden opportunity to win the match by missing a penalty. Situ Basumatary of Mavericks was sent off in the dying moments of the game.
