GUWAHATI: Guwahati has put themselves in a commanding position against Chirang in the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament at Goalpara, taking 78 runs first innings lead on Friday. After dismissing Chirang for just 96 in their first innings, Guwahati declared their first innings at 174/8. At stumps, Chirang were 81/2 in their second innings. Chirang, electing to bat first, struggled from the outset due to a brilliant bowling performance by Priyanshu Khole, who claimed 5 wickets for just 27 runs. As a result, Chirang was bowled out for 96, with Fajlur Rahman being the top scorer with 24 runs.

In reply, Guwahati posted a solid total of 174/8 in 25.1 overs before declaring. Saahil Jain (62) and Jitu Ali (50) both scored half-centuries, leading their team to a competitive total. Fajlur Rahman (4/25) was the standout bowler for Chirang, while Sagor Das (3/50) also supported well.

In their second innings, Chirang faced 33 overs and reached 91/2 by the close of play. Md. Tajuddin was unbeaten on 50, with Fajlur Rahman (41 no) providing him solid support. Priyanshu Khole claimed both wickets to fall in Chirang's second innings, finishing with figures of 2/29.
