GUWAHATI: WE R North East lifted the 10th Sitaram Chhawchharia Memorial U-19 Cricket Tournament title, defeating Triranga Cricket Coaching Centre by just one wicket in a thrilling final at the NFRSA ground in Maligaon today.
Triranga Cricket Coaching Centre won the toss and opted to bat first. They were propelled by a solid half-century from Ranjan Bikash Das, who scored 51 runs off 45 balls, including 3 boundaries and 4 sixes. Triranga posted a total of 203 runs in 46.2 overs, losing all their wickets. Kabir Hassan Deshmukh (34) and Priyangshu Paul (27) were other key contributors. Soumiyo Kanti Paul of WE R North East was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets for 34 runs.
In response, WE R North East chased down the target in 48.1 overs, losing 9 wickets. Aditya Roy Choudhury played a crucial role in the victory, remaining unbeaten on 72 runs from 106 balls, which included 3 boundaries and 1 six. Soumiyo Kanti Paul (37) and Reyan Nandey (24) also supported him well in the chase. Priyangshu Paul was the most successful bowler for Triranga, taking 3 wickets for 36 runs.
