GUWAHATI: The second day of the 5th All India Brahmaputra Squash Championship 2025 turned out to be a thrilling affair at the RG Baruah Sports Complex, with a packed schedule that saw 82 matches contested across 14 categories.
One of the highlights of the day was the commanding performance by Padma Shri awardee and 19-time national champion Joshna Chinappa of Tamil Nadu. In her pre-quarterfinal clash, Joshna comfortably defeated Assam’s Shuvra S Borah in straight games, winning 11-2, 11-2, 11-3.
In the men’s category, Diwakar Singh of the Services team put up an impressive display, beating Tamil Nadu’s Meyyappan with a scoreline of 11-9, 11-3, 11-6 to secure his place in the quarterfinals.
Adding to the day’s significance, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and President of the Assam Olympic Association, Sarbananda Sonowal, visited the Assam Squash Rackets Association Court, where the championship is underway. During his visit, Sonowal interacted with players and expressed his encouragement and support for the sport.
