GUWAHATI: Legends VCC registered a nail-biting one-run victory over Stallion SC in the RP Barooah Memorial Masters T20 cricket tournament at the NFRSA stadium, Maligaon, on Thursday.
Chasing a target of 195 runs, Stallion SC fell just short, managing 193 for 5 in their 20 overs. Saurav Nath played a brilliant knock, scoring 79 off 48 balls with 10 boundaries and two sixes. Syed Junaidul Haque also contributed significantly with a quickfire 63 off 37 balls, including 11 fours and one six. Haque had earlier shone with the ball as well. Saila Buragohain (33) also contributes with the bat.
Earlier batting first, Legends VCC posted a formidable total of 194 for 5 in their 20 overs. Monoranjan Bharali was the standout performer, smashing an unbeaten 51 off just 27 balls, featuring three boundaries and four sixes. Nabajit Narzary (33) and Prantar Sarma (32) also made valuable contributions. Syaed Junaidul Haque was impressive with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs.
In the other match of the day, Silchar Veteran secured a commanding seven-wicket victory over Golaghat Veteran. Opting to bat first, Golaghat were restricted to 110 for 9 in their 20 overs, with Biltu Mazumdar top-scoring with 31.
Silchar chased down the target comfortably in 13 overs, losing only three wickets. Abhisekh Chakraborty remained unbeaten on 51 off 29 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes, while Mihir Barman also scored 51 off 38 balls, with five fours and two sixes.
