KHARKHUTTA: Meghalaya is all set to host National Paragliding Accuracy Championship for the first time from April 28 to May 1 at Kharkutta in North Garo Hills district. With this competition, Meghalaya will move forward its one more step in the tourism sector. It may be mentioned that the MLA of Kharkutta Constituency Rupert Momin took initiative for the adventure tourism. MLA Rupert Momin introduced paragliding for tourist from last year after the covid pandamic with the help of Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma. Momin told that the competition has been sponsored by the state government and the competition organized by the Kharkutta Paragliding Association.

The North Garo Hills administrators which includes DC, SP, District Tourism officer, District Sports Officer, BDO, Doctors, PHED's SDO and the MLA Kharkutta surveyed the competition site for smooth running of the competition.

Kharkutta Paragliding Association's official told that around 100 boys and girls participants from all over India registered for competition through online registration. The district administration also gave assurance to the organizing committee to help in all sites for the competition
