GUWAHATI: Guwahati seized early control against Silchar on the opening day of their semi final league clash in the Pulin Das U-14 Inter-District Cricket Tournament, putting up a commanding all-round performance at Fulung in North Guwahati on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, Guwahati elected to bat first and made full use of the conditions, posted a massive 342-6 before declared their first innings. The innings was anchored by a nice century from Dishant Diban Das, who scored 129 off 158 balls, smashing 19 boundaries and a six. He was well supported by Priyojot Choudhury, who contributed a fluent 63 off 86 balls with 12 fours.
Abu Huraira added further strength to the innings with an unbeaten 54 (seven boundaries) off 93 balls, ensuring Guwahati crossed the 300-run mark comfortably before declaring.
For Silchar, the bowlers toiled hard but struggled to contain the flow of runs. Rajdeep Basfor was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 131 runs in 25 overs, while Ayush Singh chipped in with 2 for 78 in 22 overs.
In reply, Silchar had a cautious start and reached 38 for 2 in 17 overs by stumps. Mayank Nag remained unbeaten on 14, while Rajdeep Basfor was not out on 12,, Both the wickets was claimed by Neerav Jain.
