Wins for Kaziranga Heroes, Brahmaputra Boys in Assam T20 Challengers Trophy

GUWAHATI: Kaziranga Heroes and Brahmaputra Boys won their respective matches in the Assam T20 Challengers Trophy at Judges' Field today.

Kaziranga Heroes beat Dihing Patkai Riders by 9 runs in the first match of the day.

Invited to bat first, Kaziranga Heroes managed 145 in allotted 20 overs losing 8 wickets. Denish Das (34) and Pritam Deb Nath (31) were the major contributors. Hridip Deka claimed 3 wickets for 41 while Arup Das took two for 17. Pritam won the Man of the Match trophy.

In reply Dihing Patkai scored 136 runs for 5 in stipulated overs. Sib Sankar Roy hit 45 off 28 balls while Rahul Hazarika added 30 runs. Abhilash Gogoi grabbed 2 vital wickets.

In the next match, Brahmaputra Boys thrashed Subansiri Champs by 36 runs.

Losing the toss and batting first, with the help of Biplab Saikia's 28-ball 45 and Sourav Saha's 25-ball 32 runs Brahmaputra Boys set 148 runs challenge losing 8 wickets. Sidharth Sarmah (3/25) and Pritam Das (2/19) were most successful bowlers for the Subansiri side. But their batsmen could not handle the pressure and bundled out for 112 in 18.3 overs. Subham Mandal struck 45 off 40 balls. Ranji star Krishna Das picked 3 wickets for 9 runs while Pushparaj Sharma took 3 wickets for 23. Biplab was adjudged as the man of the match.

Tomorrow Kaziranga Heroes will face Barak Bravehearts while Subansiri Champs will take the challenge of Dihing Patkai Riders.
