GUWAHATI: Assam ended their campaign in the 2nd North East Olympic Games staying at the second place in the medal tally. Manipur bagged the top place.

The seven-day competition came to an end in Shillong today. Manipur altogether collected 240 medals which included 88 gold, 75 silver and 77 bronze medals. Assam finished with 203 medals and there were 79 gold, 61 silver and 63 bronze. Assam won several medals on the last day of the game also. In archery (compound round) Assam bagged gold medals in team and mixed event. In tennis also Assam won a gold medal in the men's doubles. In the team event (men) Assam won a bronze in tennis.

In karate Assam bagged five medals on the concluding day. Among the five medals two were silvers and remaining three were bronze. Silver medals were won by Imon Gogoi (68kg) and Prachurya Gogoi (67kg). It may be mentioned here that around 3000 athletes from eight North East states participated in 18 disciplines during the 2nd North East Olympic Games.
