Ramanathan Loses in First Round to Maxim Zhukov

Indore: Maxim Zhukov beat second seed Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of the $30,000 ITF men’s tennis tournament at the Indore Tennis Club on Wednesday.

In the pre-quarterfinals, Maxim will play Dhakshineswar Suresh who eased past Grigoriy Lomakin of Kazakhstan for the loss of seven games.

Qualifier Vishnu Vardhan beat seventh seed Dominik Palan of Czech Republic in two tie-break sets.

Yuvan Nandal, Chirag Duhan, Sidharth Rawat, Aryan Shah and Dev Javia were the other Indian players to progress into the second round. Agencies
