Assam Finance Department Block Salaries of 7 DDOs

GUWAHATI: The Assam Finance department has directed the treasury officers concerned to block salaries of seven DDOs under six administrative departments for their failures to submit utilization certificates (UCs) within the stipulated deadlines.

The erring officers are the Member Secretary of Assam State Legal Service Authority, Kamrup under the Home & Political Department, the Director of Secondary Education, the Chief Executive Officer of GMDA, the Director of Char Area Development, the Director of Agriculture, the ADC (Dev)/Senior Planning Officer, Tezpur and the Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji. An order issued by the Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar Bora on Thursday stated that the State Finance Minister had assured the Assam Assembly that pendency of UCs for the year 2016-17 would be reduced to zero percentage by September 15, 2019. But despite various efforts, reviews and sensitization by the Finance department, seven DDOs of six departments could not bring down their pendency to nil. Such failures of DDOs are despite the fact the deadline for submission of utilization certificates was extended up to November 25, 2019.
