Bharatiya Janata Party and allies win autonomous council polls

GUWAHATI: The BJP-led coalition registered a massive win in three autonomous councils, the results of which were declared on Monday.

In the 36-member RHAC (Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council), while BJP’s ally RHJMC (Rabha Hason Joint Movement Committee) won 33 seats, the BJP, the Congress and the AGP won one seat each.

In the 26-member SKAC (Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council), while the BJP won 20 seats, the Congress won five seats. An independent candidate won one seat.

In the 36-member (MAC) Mising Autonomous Council, while BJP’s ally Sanmilita Gana Shakti won 29 seats, the BJP won five seats. While an Independent candidate won one seat, the election was not held in one seat.

The three autonomous councils had gone to poll on January 21.
