COVID-19 impact: Dispur spells out guidelines for State government employees

* Offices to resume functioning from April 21

* Temperature scanning, social distancing mandatory

GUWAHATI: The SAD (Secretariat Administration Department) has come out with clear-cut guidelines for the State government officers and other employees to follow from April 21 when the office functioning is set to resume.

The SAD guidelines say that social distancing has to be maintained in offices at all cost, besides wearing masks. All working places shall have adequate arrangements for temperature scanning and sanitizing facilities. The sitting arrangements in offices have to be made taking social distancing in view, and the offices have to be sanitized frequently, including the lifts. The officials have been advised to avoid the use of lifts as much as possible.

On the attendance of officers and employees, the SAD has spelt it out that all officers from deputy secretaries and above as well as 33 per cent of third and fourth grade employees will have to attend offices regularly. Grade-I and Grade-II officers, on the other hand, will have to attend offices as and when required. All ministerial staff will have to attend office regularly.

The employees, according to the SAD guidelines, will have to follow some don’ts like assembly of more than five persons in corridors and canteens, spiting inside and outside their office rooms, etc.

Meanwhile, the Janata Bhawan is banned for general public till further order.

On the transportation of employees, ASTC buses will be parked at certain points in Guwahati so as to allow employees to board them.

According to official sources, the Deputy Commissioners will take measures in the prescribed model in the offices across their respective districts.

The State government has asked the deputy commissioners of the five districts that have been declared corona hotspots by the Centre to take measures, including containment, in accordance with the State Health Department’s guidelines while resuming office functioning.
