NEW DELHI: Days after the disappearance of the National Register of Citizen (NRC) data from the government website, CPI MP Binoy Viswam has written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah seeking his intervention on the issue. In his letter written to the Home Minister on Friday, Viswam said, “Given the sensitive nature of the data and your government’s lack of transparency these events are deeply worrying.

“As a member of the Parliament and a concerned citizen, I urge you to look into this matter at the earliest and take appropriate action,” said Viswam.

He further stated, “It is astonishing that the Central government has failed to pay the service provider, Wipro, for such an important exercise that directly affects the fundamental identity of millions of citizens.”

The sudden disappearance of NRC data from the government portal recently created a major controversy, with the Opposition demanding explanation from the government.
