Government offices under Golaghat district in a dilapidated condition

SARUPATHAR: The Subdivisional Information and Public Relations Office (SDIPRO) and the Sub Registrar and Hindu Marriage Office (SR & HMO) in Sarupathar under Golaghat district are in a dilapidated condition.

“Despite the manifold problems faced by us, there has been no action by the authorities concerned to repair and improve the office,” the staff lamented. They added that the condition worsens during the rainy season. The rainwater enters through the leaks in the office rooms. Pointing out that they have to buy drinking water, the staff added that there are no toilets or urinals in the office due to which employees, especially the female employees, are facing a lot of inconveniences.

Reportedly due to lack of staff, the officers-in-charge of both the offices are carrying out their duties from another place and controlling the Sarupathar office at the same time.

“The buildings are falling apart due to lack of repair,” lamented the staff. They also expressed displeasure over the lackadaisical attitude of the State Government in improving the government offices of the town.
