Nab Illegal Migrants: Sadou Asom Goria-Moriya Deshi Jatiya Parishad (SAGMDJP)

GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Goria-Moriya Deshi Jatiya Parishad (SAGMDJP) has dropped a broad hint that an indefinite number of illegal immigrants did not apply for the inclusion of their names in the final NRC, apprehending being caught. It has further said that all such illegal immigrants have got blended with the population in the minority-infested areas, and if they are not nabbed by the State government now they may indulge in antisocial and illegal activities, inflicting heavy casualties on the indigenous people of the State. The Parishad has demanded the State government to conduct an immediate operation to flush out and nab the illegal immigrants.

The Sadou Asom Goria-Moriya Deshi Jatiya Parishad is an organization of the indigenous Muslims of Assam. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Parishad president Hafijul Ahmed said: “Finding out just over 19 lakh applicants ineligible for inclusion in the final NRC is quite unacceptable. Besides, among the over 19 lakh ineligible applicants, there are many Indians as well. It’s sad that some indigenous people of the State will have to face trials in the Foreigners Tribunals.”

He further alleged, “We believe that the final NRC has many names of illegal foreigners staying in Assam. Against this backdrop, the government should go for a re-verification of all the NRC documents.”

The Parishad president further stated, “If need be, we will move the Supreme Court of India with the plea for re-verification of the NRC documents. It’s clear that an NRC that cannot identify the indigenous people of the State has every reason to err in identifying illegal foreigners as well.”

Ahmed also said: “Some people in the State are trying to increase the Muslim population in Assam by including the indigenous Muslims of the State with them. However, their plan will never succeed. We’ll always be with the indigenous people of the State like the Bodos, Rabhas, Koch-Rajbongshis, Morans, Muttaks, Kalitas and others.”
