GUWAHATI: A joint meeting of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Indigenous Ethnic Sahitya Sabha has warned the vested interest groups against creating any confusion about publication of the final NRC. Both the organizations also warned those trying to hatch conspiracies to protect illegal Muslim and Hindu Bangladeshis on the pretext of NRC.

The meeting held on Monday reposed full faith in the Supreme Court which is monitoring the ongoing NRC update exercise. It said nasty politics in the name of NRC will not be tolerated. The AASU and Ethnic Sahitya Sabha have also decided to help indigenous people in case their names do not figure in the final NRC.

The meeting also resolved to put pressure on the Centre to fully implement the Clause 6 of Assam Accord to ensure Constitutional safeguard to indigenous people of the State.
