4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Assam

Guwahati: People across the state were jolted last night by an earthquake of moderate intensity at around 12.54 a.m. The magnitude of the earthquake, according to the National Center for Seismology, was 4.8 on the Richter scale, and the epicentre was stated to be within the grid of Latitude: 24.68 N and Longitude: 94.87 E in Myanmar. The depth was stated as 106 km, and the time as 00:53:35 IST on January 24.
