GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has been doing the spadework to convert the announcements made during the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit into realities. In the past two days, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had parleys with industrialists, including Vedanta Group, Greenko Group, and Adani Group.

Vedanta Group committed to invest Rs 50,000 crore in the state during the summit. Top officials of Vedanta Group called upon Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma to discuss their plans of realising their Rs 50,000-crore investment commitment. In the meeting, the chief minister reiterated the government’s full support for the group’s plans, and a broad timeframe was agreed upon to begin works on their plans, especially on energy explorations.

The Greenko group made an investment commitment, especially in green power. The group is very bullish on Assam’s potential and its ability to support its investment plans. During the meeting with the Chief Minister, the group laid down their plans to start work on Rs 12,000 crore worth of power project plans by the end of this year. The group will also build Northeast’s first pump-storage project that will give a new dimension to hydroelectric storage and ensure grid stability in peak hours.

Earlier, the Chief Minister met Adani Group director Jeet Adani and discussed the way ahead in implementing their Rs 50,000-crore investment proposals in the areas of Aerocity, hotels, cement plants, etc.
