Guwahati: A wave of anticipation swept across Assam as the state waits for new updates in the enquiry. The investigation into the untimely death of Assam’s most cherished voice, Zubeen Garg, has entered a crucial phase. Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam Police has returned from Singapore. The singer passed away on September 19 while attending the North East India Festival.
The two-member delegation, led by Special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta and Titabor Co-District SP Tarun Goel, a member of the nine-member SIT, has spent days in Singapore examining the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. The team visited the site of the tragic incident.
The team has made multiple interactions with the individuals connected to the incident. They have also reviewed the findings shared by the Singaporean authorities under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT). Though there were no signs of foul play recorded in the preliminary reports from Singapore so far, a final and detailed report is finally on its way.
The upcoming media briefing today, by DGP Gupta, is expected to shed new light on the international leg of the probe and outline the next steps.
For millions who grew up with Zubeen Garg’s voice as the soundtrack of their lives, the investigation is more than a case. It is a collective search for truth, justice, and peace. As the clock ticks toward Friday’s announcement, Assam stands united in grief and hope, awaiting answers about the final hours of the icon who gave the state its rhythm.
