JORHAT: Special DGP (Law and Order) GP Singh said that the police would probably file the charge-sheet in the 'Animesh Bhuyan lynching case' in the first week of January 2022.

The police arrested 15 people in the case. And the prime accused died in a road accident. Among 14 others, 13 are in judicial custody, and a minor is in a child observation home.

Speaking to the media here today, Singh said that the police had strong evidence like CCTV footage, video recordings and eyewitness accounts — enough to submit the charge sheet in the first week of January.

Singh said that the investigators sent all the footage to the Forensic Science Laboratory at Guwahati. The report would come in 10 days or so, he added.

The special DGP revealed that the department transferred the OC of Jorhat Police Station because his performance was not satisfactory.

"A new OC will take over in a couple of days. The new year will begin with renewed energy," he said.
