APCC lodges FIR against Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has lodged an FIR at Bhangagarh Police Station against Finance Minister HimantaBiswaSarma for 'promoting enmity and creating disharmony between different communities'.

The APPC alleged in the FIR that Sarma made certain remark in social media with an intention to create religious tension between two communities of the State through a misleading statement and false Facebook post.

"He claimed that, at Silchar Airport some persons shouted Pakistan Zindabad while welcoming a political leader. Subsequently to it the said Facebook post was flagged by Facebook authorities as the third party fact checkers found the content of the post to be false and fake. The said accused person (Sarma) repeated the said false allegation in different public forums," stated the FIR.

It is to be noted that the FIR was lodge by APCC general secretary Ranjan Bora.

According to reports, the APCC team also had an argument with the personnel of Bhangagarh PS while. "The police incharge accepted the FIR and gave us a receipt copy. But after some time, the police demanded the FIR copy following which we had an argument. Later they returned us the receipt copy of the FIR but didn't register the case," said APCC secretary ImdadHussain while talking to The Sentinel.
