Assam CM files defamation case against Manish Sisodia

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday filed a criminal defamation case at the CJM’s Court, Kamrup against Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday filed a criminal defamation case at the CJM's Court, Kamrup against Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia over the latter's comments in connection with the procurement of PPE kits during the initial phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sarma will record his submission regarding the case on July 22.

Sisodia had alleged before the media that when Sarma was the Health & Family Welfare Minister, the department had placed an order with a company owned by the latter's wife for supply of PPE kits at a rate which was higher than that of other suppliers.

Sarma's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, has already filed a Rs 100-crore defamation case against Sisodia and also clarified that her company had donated the PPE kits to the Health & family Welfare Department under its CSR activity.
