GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that his government would execute the very first announcement of the 2025-26 Budget-Mukhyo Mantrir Mahila Udyamita Asoni on April 1, 2025, besides introducing two innovative ways in the selection of PMAY-G beneficiaries.

Speaking to the media here today, the Chief Minister said, "We're going to select 3.80 lakh beneficiaries of PMAY-G. For the first time, Jeevika Sakhis of self-help groups will conduct the kutcha house geo-tagging process of the would-be PMAY-G beneficiaries, instead of the Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department officials. The would-be beneficiaries can also upload the photos of their geo-tagged kutcha houses to the portal. The gram sabhas will cross-check the lists of the would-be beneficiaries. The entire process will start on March 17 and end on March 31."

The Chief Minister said that as many as 29 lakh women have fulfilled the criteria of the Mukhyo Mantrir Mahila Udyamita Asoni. "The scrutiny may exclude around one lakh of them. We made the announcement of this scheme in this annual budget, and we're going to execute it on April 1, 2025, when 23,000 women of Behali LAC will get Rs 10,000 each as the first installment of the scheme. We'll continue to give the installment every month in 10-15 LACs. The budget has an allocation of Rs 3,200 crore for this scheme."

The Chief Minister said that this scheme has mainly three criteria: no woman in the general category should have more than three children, which have been exempted to four for ST, SC, and tea tribes; if the aspiring beneficiary has a girl child, she must send her daughter to school; and the woman should not have any outstanding bank loans. As many as 26 lakh women have fulfilled the conditions of the three-child norm and sending a girl child to school criteria.

The Chief Minister said, "Proper utilisation of the first installment of Rs 10,000 will lead to the disbursement of Rs 25,000 in the second installment and Rs 50,000 in the third installment."
