Assam CM: Project works worth Rs 1 lakh crore to be visible by December

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that if the current pace at which the process for implementing the MoUs signed during the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit is going on continues, by December this year project works worth Rs 1 lakh crore will be visible on the ground.

The Chief Minister said that during his Assam visit on September 8 to inaugurate Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Birth Centenary Celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also lay the foundation stone of Guwahati Ring Road and inaugurate Numaligarh Bio-Refinery.

The Chief Minister said that Adani Group has already visited Assam twice within a span of ten days. "They will inaugurate the second terminal of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in October, besides starting the work of the Rs 10,000-crore Aerocity Project."

On the Rs 25,000-crore high-speed Green Field Highway from Guwahati to Silchar, the Chief Minister said, "The highway project is at the final stage of approval. The approval to project for the proposed tunnel underneath the Brahmaputra connecting Gohpur and Numaligarh is also at the final stage. The name of the new fertiliser plant to be set up at Namrup will be 'Assam Fertiliser and Chemical Company Ltd, in which the state government will have 40 per cent equity. The production of the existing Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Ltd will continue until the new fertiliser plant becomes operational. After that, the government will decide if it has to run these two plants separately or merge them."
