GUWAHATI: Issuing a modified notification, the Assam Government discharged 12 APS (Assam Police Service) probationers from their services with effect from different dates in 2018 and 2019. The names of these 12 APS probationers figured in the APSC’s (Assam Public Service Commission) cash-for-job scam.
According to notifications issued to this effect on July 29, 2025, the Home (A) Department, Government of Assam, had to withdraw its earlier discharge orders issued on different dates in 2018 and 2019 following a direction from the Gauhati High Court on June 20, 2025.
The Assam government finds that these 12 APS probationers are not fit for confirmation of their jobs in the Assam Police service. In exercise of the powers conferred under the relevant rule of the Assam Police Service Rules, 1966, the state government discharged the 12 APS probationers from their services.
The 12 discharged APS probationers are Sabbira Imran, Pallabi Sharma, Kabita Das, Rakesh Gupta, Kaushik Kalita, Jayanta Kumar Nath, Jatindra Prasad Baruah, Hemanta Saikia, Harshajyoti Bora, Gulshan Daolagupu, Dilip Kumar Kalita, and Bhargav Phukan.
Earlier in July this year, the state government discharged 29 ACS officers whose names also figured in the APSC’s cash-for-job scam.
