GUWAHATI: Even though flood water has receded in several parts of the State, the situation continues to remain grim in most of the affected districts, including the Kaziranga National Park. Two more persons died in Morigaon and Tinsukia districts on Saturday taking the total number of deaths in the current wave of flood to 37.

Moreover, the Brahmaputra continues to flow above the danger level at various places including Naematighat (Jorhat), Dhubri, Jia Bharali at NT Road Crossing (Sonapur), Kopili at Dharamtul (Nagaon) and Beki at Road Bridge (Barpeta).

As per the latest update on the flood scenario by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 18 districts across the State are reeling under flood water with over 10.75 lakh people of 1,412 villages in 43 Revenue Circles affected. The existing 156 relief camps set up across the State in view of the flood is currently housing 11,741 displaced people.

Further, 53,348 hectares of crop land has been affected in the latest wave of flood.
