GUWAHATI: With the death of one more person at Raha in Nagaon district during the last 24 hours, the flood toll in Assam rose to 38. The overall situation still remained critical with 3,86,033 persons affected in 647 villages under 28 Revenue Circles (RCs) across 15 of the 33 districts of the State.

The maximum number of 2,22, 830 people have been affected in Barpeta district followed by 68,596 in Goalpara; 27,100 in Dhubri; and 17,134 in Morigaon district among others.

Altogther 4, 226 persons are taking shelter in 50 relief camps.

The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Neamatighat in Jorhat and Dhubri districts; the Jia Bharali at NT Road Crossing in Sonitpur, the Kopili at Dharamtul in Nagaon and the Disang River at Nanglamuraghat in Sivsagar district.

Further, 32, 215.39 hectares of crop land have been affected.

In Kaziranga National Park, while 17 camps are affected; three have been vacated. Altogether 47 wild animals have been affected due to floods and vehicles, stated the DFO, Eastern Assam Wildlife Division. In Pobitora Wild Life Sanctuary, while 12 camps are affected; two have been shifted. In Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park, one camp is affected due to floods

Meanwhile, there are two reports of drowning deaths but not related to floods. According to ASDMA (the Assam State Disaster Management Authority) daily bulletin, one person died in Narayanpur RC in Lakhimpur district and the other in Morigaon RC.
