Phukan gets Power, Rai- Food & Civil
Supplies, Paul- Veterinary, Gowala- Labour

Guwahati: A major reshuffle in portfolios of ministers in the state was effected today, and the four newly inducted ministers have been handed important portfolios. The Chief Minister has also given partial responsibility of departments under him to other ministers.
The newly inducted minister, Prashanta Phukan, has been allotted the departments of Power, Skill Empowerment and Enterprises, as well as Medical Education and Research. Kaushik Rai was allotted the departments of Food and Civil Supplies, Mines and Minerals, and the newly created Barak Valley Development. Krishnendu Paul was handed the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Fishery, and PWD (partially) departments. Rupesh Gowala has been assigned to the Labour Welfare, Tea Tribes, and Adivasi Welfare and Home (partially) departments.
The Chief Minister has partially handed over the departments under him: Home, PWD, and Medical Education and Research to other ministers. In this connection, the CM explained that he had given up partial responsibility for the departments under him so that he could be free to pursue work related to the next Assembly election. He also stated that in the next one and a half years, he will concentrate on fulfilling the promises made to the people in the last three years. When people see the work being done on the ground, the government will succeed in winning the trust of the people, he said.
The portfolios of ministers reshuffled today include the Tourism department, which was transferred from Piyush Hazarika to Ranjeet Kumar Dass, while the Food and Civil Supplies department was taken from Minister Dass and given to Kaushik Roy. The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department was taken off the hands of Atul Bora and handed to Krishnendu Paul, while Atul Bora was given additional charge of the Excise department. The Housing and Urban Development department was transferred from Ashok Singhal to Jayantamalla Baruah.
However, no changes were effected in the departments under Ajanta Neog, Piyush Hazarika, and Bimal Bora.
