GUWAHATI: At last, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi went to Pakistan at the invitation of the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence).
Speaking to the media in Guwahati today, the Chief Minister said, “For the first I say that Gaurav Gogoi went to Pakistan at the invitation of the ISI. In this regard, we have documents with us. He didn’t go as a tourist. He definitely went to Pakistan for receiving training. The reason: why would the ISI invite him? Gaurav Gogoi went to Pakistan after receiving a letter from the Home Department (Ministry of Interior) of Pakistan. It would have been a different matter had he been invited by Pakistan’s External Affairs or a university. What does the Home Department signify? He went to Pakistan directly at the invitation of the Pakistan government, not at the invitation of External Affairs or Cultural Affairs Ministries. How dangerous the matter is! It’s a very serious matter. He was close with the Pakistan establishment. When the Home Department invites anyone, it is certainly for imparting training to that person. I reiterate, all will be surprised on September 10 this year when I will show all documents in this regard before the media. The matter is serious. We’ve got concrete proof in this regard.”
The Chief Minister said, “If any BJP leader went to Pakistan at the invitation of the Home Department, he would also be caught on the wrong foot. The BJP doesn’t compromise with Pakistan. If any BJP men went to Pakistan, give us the names. We’ll take action instantly. It would be a different matter had anyone gone to Pakistan on behalf of the government, to play cricket, and with permission from the Government of India. Barring the government’s assignment, if any BJP leader went to Pakistan secretly, just give me the name. I’ll send the names to Nadda (JP Nadda) instantly. This is because we don’t support any such activity.”
