Guwahati: Erring teachers better look out, as the Director of Secondary Education, Assam, is mulling strict action, including pay cuts, against the teaching staff of different government and provincialised secondary schools found absent continuously in the "Shiksha Setu App".
The Director has written to all Inspectors of Schools (IoSs) in the state regarding taking departmental action against the continuously absent teaching staff of different government and provincialised secondary schools, as recorded in the "Shiksha Setu App".
The letter goes on to inform the IoSs that the Department of School Education has viewed seriously the continuous absence in respect of the teaching staff of various government and provincialised secondary schools in the 'Shiksha Setu App' and issued directions to identify such teachers and take appropriate departmental action against the teachers concerned, including punishment of pay cut.
Moreover, the IoSs, being the appointing cum disciplinary authority in respect of teaching staff of provincialised secondary schools, were thereby requested to monitor the 'Shiksha Setu App' regularly and, on notice of continuous absence of any teaching staff, initiate departmental proceedings against the teacher concerned immediately and dispose of the same within the stipulated time frame for the purpose, imposing punishment as per rules and procedures in force.
Further, on notice of continuous absence of any teaching staff of a government secondary school, the school inspectors are instructed to submit reports, along with relevant records, to the director immediately so that departmental proceedings can be initiated against such teachers of government secondary schools.
