GUWAHATI: Will the APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) break the jinx? Yet another examination (interview) under it has also got stuck in uncertainty.

Some candidates for the posts of assistant professors in Assam engineering colleges moved the Gauhati High Court with a writ petition {WP©6005/2021}. The petitioners alleged that some candidates, who do not have the requisite qualifications for the posts they applied for, have also got calls for an interview. The APSC was supposed to interview from November 15, 2021. The interview process was to continue up to November 26, 2021.

In the interim, the High Court said that the APSC might carry out the interview but would not declare the final results without the leave of the Court.

The High Court also said that the APSC might mitigate the situation by verifying the respective qualifications of the candidates in respect of the departments they had applied for and call only the candidates who had the requisite qualification on the date of submission of the application according to the advertisement (May 25, 2017). The High Court listed the writ petition for the next hearing after three weeks.

Meanwhile, in a notification published on November 15, 2021, the APSC deferred the interview for the posts of assistant professors in Assam Engineering Colleges scheduled for November 15, 2021. The Commission said that it would notify the fresh dates for the interview later.
