Guwahati: In another successful operation against fundamentalists and global terrorist organisations under Operation Praghat, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam arrested a most wanted jihadi or Islamic extremist identified as Jaheer Ali, son of Baher Ali of village Khudigaon pt 2, under police station Bilasipara in Dhubri district of Assam.

According to a source, Jaheer Ali was in the guise of an auto-rickshaw driver at Bilasipara in the Dhubri district. After his arrest, Ali was brought to Guwahati for interrogation and subsequent legal action by the STF team.

It is necessary to mention here that during the course of the investigation in STF Assam PS Case No. 21/2024, the sleuths of STF have already arrested 12 clandestine operators, including Bangladeshi nationals. The jihadists from the neighbouring country also sent one Bangladeshi national, Md Sad Radi @ Shab Seikh, a resident of Rajshahi in Bangladesh, to India to spread their nefarious ideology amongst like-minded Indian nationals across India. He was also arrested by the STF earlier.

The operations were all conducted under the direction of STF Chief Dr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta, and the above-mentioned accused persons were arrested, while a huge cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and other materials, including various incriminating documents, as well as mobile phones, was recovered from their possession.
