GUWAHATI: The recent arrest of two Bangladeshis, one from Guwahati and the other from Silchar, has proved that infiltration of Bangladeshis into Assam still continues. The subsequent recoveries made by the police have revealed that a racket makes fake Bangladeshi passports and Indian Aadhaar cards, PAN Cards, and other documents at a place in the Nagaon district. An infiltrator can get such fake documents by paying just Rs 30,000.

According to police sources, Paltan Bazar Police recently arrested a Bangladeshi, Saiful Islam (23), along with an Indian, Ahmaddul Hassan, from Paltan Bazar. Saiful told the police that he is a resident of Ranguli Basti, Kachua, in the Nagaon district. The police seized his Aadhaar card, passport, PAN card, and other documents that identify him as an Indian citizen. However, the documents of Saiful turned out to be fake ones.

During interrogation, Sauful admitted that he had entered India illegally through the Dowki-Bangladesh border with the help of Masud Hassan. Masud Hassan alias Yasin, also a Bangladeshi who had entered India 14 years ago, was staying at Silchar with his fake address proof of Kachua in the Nagaon district. The police also arrested Masud Hassan from Silchar. Based on their confessional statements, the police arrested Faruk Ahmed of Kachaua in the Nagaon district.

According to the police, Faruk Ahmed, who runs a computer shop, is involved in making false Indian documents and providing extensive service to illegal immigrants. The police recovered multiple Aadhaar cards and the seals of various principals and headmasters. The police suspect that Faruk Ahmed is producing fake documents like school certificates with the help of the fake seals of headmasters and principals.
