GUWAHATI: Brahmaputra Board Chairman Dr. Ranbir Singh said that the board formalized a strategic collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati to undertake a scientific study on riverbank erosion in the Brahmaputra River Basin. This study will focus on identifying vulnerable stretches and designing mitigation measures based on scientific analysis and risk assessment, he said.

Speaking to the media after the 85th meeting of the Brahmaputra Board in Guwahati today, Dr. Singh said that the board requested all government departments to provide updated status reports on the implementation of the recommendations made in their respective river basin master plans. “These inputs will be essential for assessing the effectiveness of the plans and their impact on the ground,” he said.

The board approved the proposal submitted by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for the redevelopment of its headquarters at Guwahati. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 242.17 crore, aims to create a modern and sustainable office and residential complex for the organisation.
