KOKRAJHAR: The two-day winter session of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Legislative Assembly concluded today at the Council Assembly building in Bodofa Nwgwr.
On the second and final day, the house passed supplementary demands for the financial year 2024-25 amounting to Rs 1457.87 lakhs. The supplementary budget, presented by BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, who also holds the finance portfolio, aims to address shortfalls in the payment of salaries and allowances, including those for the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Leader of Opposition, and other council members. The house also passed two important bills: The Bodoland Territorial Council Flood Plain Zoning Bill, 2024—aimed at regulating flood-prone areas for sustainable development—and the BTC Land & Revenue Regulation (Application & Amendment) Bill, 2024—focused on streamlining land and revenue administration in the BTC region.
The session, chaired by Speaker Katiram Boro, began with a question hour where members actively raised issues pertaining to the development and welfare of the council.
