CM Himanta Biswa Sarma apprises Nirmala Sitharaman of State's financial status

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari, Coal and Mines Minister Prahlad Joshi and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh on various issues in New Delhi today.

The Chief Minister said, "I briefed the Finance Minister about our discussion with the World Bank on Assam's medium-term partnership on a range of projects. I apprised her of the financial health of the state as well as the status of various development projects.

"With Gadkari, I discussed the Kaziranga elevated highway project and its significance for preserving wildlife. The Union minister assured his support. I also apprised him on other infra-related projects.

"I met the Coal and Mines Minister and discussed the possibility of more coal mines in Assam to boost the economy and create employment opportunities."

The Chief Minister also met and thanked the Panchayati Raj Minister for sanctioning seven lakh rural houses for Assam.
