GUWAHATI: Intensifying its crackdown against drug traffickers, the city police launched a massive operation in the Khanapara area of the city on Friday. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself tweeted a video of the anti-drug operation which is still underway in the area close to the Assam-Meghalaya boundary. The operation led by Joint Commissioner of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta has led to the recovery of drugs worth Rs 4 crore. The consignment of drugs was being transported in a truck (MN07C4292) hidden in a two secret chamber, police sources said.

Significantly, the Assam police have been busting drug cartels, recovering contrabands, cash and swooping down on drug traffickers almost every day across the state. The anti-drugs operation picked momentum in the state after Himanta Biswa Sarma took charge as the Chief Minister.
