DoNER Sanctions 6 Projects Worth Rs 351 Crore for Assam

Guwahati: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has sanctioned six projects worth Rs 351.02 crore for the state of Assam in the current financial year of 2024-25.

This was revealed today in the Rajya Sabha by Minister of State for DoNER Dr. Sukanta Majumdar. According to the Minister, the schemes have been sanctioned under the Special Packages-BTC, NESIDS-Roads and the schemes of the North Eastern Council (NEC).

The sanctioned projects are: Development of Industrial Estates for setting up of Small/Medium industries at Ramphalbil (Kokrajhar) with a sanctioned cost of Rs 14.40 crore; Industrial Estate, Lakhibazar at Kokilaburi, in the Baksa district under BTC worth Rs 18.40 crore; Bodoland Movement Memorial Museum at Salbari, Baksa under BTC Package with a sanctioned cost of Rs 29.99 crore; Improvement & Upgradation of 24.72 Km road from Rajagaon to Dalimbari in West Karbi Anglong District worth Rs 80.73 crore; Construction of a new road of 50.52 km length from Chowkihola to Tarapung via Borpung with a cost of Rs 202.90 crore; and construction of College and Hostel Building at Haflong for Heraka community, which is identified as one of the  deprived or neglected communities of Assam, with a sanctioned cost of Rs 4.60 crore.

The Minister stated in the RS that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) sanctions projects every year for all the North Eastern states, including Assam. During the last 10 years, from 2014-15 to 2023-24, and the current financial year 2024-25, a total of 231 projects costing Rs 5812.65 crore have been sanctioned for the state of Assam under various schemes of MDoNER.

The total budgetary outlay of Assam under various schemes of MDoNER during the 15th Finance Commission period ending on March 31, 2026, is Rs.3225.78 crore.
