First wave of pre-monsoon floods hit Assam

GUWAHATI: The first wave of pre-monsoon floods has affected around 4,000 people in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Majuli, Goalpara etc., districts in the state. Embankments were breached in Tinsukia and Majuli districts. Erosion has posed a threat to people in other districts.

The sudden upsurge in the water level of the Brahmaputra has led to floods. Though the floods have damaged standing crops, there is no damage to infrastructure.
