Gauhati University (GU) website hacked by miscreants

GUWAHATI: The official website of Gauhati University (GU) was hacked by miscreants on Friday. It was the third time that the website of this prestigious university has been hacked.

Confirming the development, an official in the Gauhati University administration, however, said that no data or sensitive content of the university has been compromised.

Even though the website namely https://www.gauhati.ac.in has been restored by late Friday afternoon, the varsity authorities are still clueless about the miscreants who hacked the website for the third time. The website was hacked twice in 2020.

"The Information Technology (IT) team of the university is conducting an inquiry to find out the culprits. We have taken the matter very seriously," said the official.

Teachers and students have demanded that the university authorities must implement strict IT- safety rules and protocols.
